Washoe County deputies initially stopped him for traffic-related offenses while he was driving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van near Red Rock Boulevard.
While speaking with Ojata, deputies say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the van. They found 21 large cardboard boxes in the van’s cargo area and each box contained 10 smaller vacuum-sealed boxes.
Deputies investigated further and found pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes inside the boxes.
The van and its contents were taken to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to be booked as evidence. The marijuana weighed 593 pounds in total, which is an estimated value of about $889,500.
