Over $5 million generated from adult-use marijuana purchases are to be dispersed to multiple Missouri agencies.

The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) shared on Monday that a total of $5,459,172 generated from recreational marijuana purchases were transferred to three agencies.

The constitutional amendment from 2022 included provisions requiring that fees and taxes generated by the adult-use marijuana program be transferred to the Missouri Veterans Commission, Missouri State Public Defender and DHSS.

Licensed dispensaries in the state have a 6% state sales tax rate, which has generated a total of $21,836,688 for this fiscal year.
