Baking can be tricky for anybody. Infuse your confection with THC and the process gets even stickier. For Bubby’s Baked—an edible brand under Massachusetts-based cannabis company MariMed—being perfectly baked is the name of the game.

After entering the Missouri market this Winter, Bubby’s Baked makes the cannabis industry here in the Show-Me State even sweeter. With multiple styles of treats, each holding various doses of THC, the company is hopeful for a warm welcome to the Missouri industry.

Missouri voters lit the oven when they passed legal recreational marijuana in 2022, and now Bubby’s is baking their bread. The Pitch had the opportunity to sample a few of the full-spectrum 100mg THC packages of these delicacies, making the sugar and marijuana fix easier than ever.

Choco Chip Bites: These chocolate chip muffin-like edibles remind me of the QuikTrip chocolate chips that I used to buy after school; simple, not overly sweet, and packed tight with chocolate chips throughout the cookie. The consistency of the bite is firm but begins to crumble softly in every bite. With a slight hint of weed, these are just about what every stoner is aiming for when baking their special batch. After quickly consuming the 100mg THC package, I remained glued to my couch for a couple of hours, watching some NCAA basketball. Can’t say I remember much of the games, but the slow-motion replays continuously made me wonder if I was beginning to green out.

Brownie Bites: As stated, THC-infused baked goods can be tough to execute, and when the product is not contained in a cool, dry space, it can quickly become a baked mess. This was almost the case for these brownie bites. During the frozentundra that Kansas City became in January, the heat inside my home was on blast. Unfortunately for these brownies, theycaught a little bit of a fever, slightly sticking to their individual wrappers.

Nonetheless, I persevered and got most of each brownie down my throat before the situation got too sticky (please don’t do this if you have a low THC tolerance). At first chew, the consistency of the brownie is fluffy and falls apart in the mouth. Whether this was due to its slight change of state, we may never know (until we purchase more). As for the taste, it might as well be your traditional, homemade brownie with the ever-so-slight lingering weed aftertaste.

Snickerdoodle Bites: These snickerdoodle bites were some of the most well-done infused baked treats that I have come across. Firm on the outside, yet squishy and soft on the inside, these are your grandma’s holiday cookies with a funky twist. On top of the amazing denseness, there was hardly any taste of weed at all, which I cannot say for many edibles that I have tried—especially homemade batches that used to be the norm in the state. Instead, there is a classic coffee cake flavor that the bites carry, with sugar and cinnamon flakes throughout, leaving a subtle cinnamon flavor behind that will immediately make you reach for another. Be careful; with 20mg THC per piece, it’s a risky game.
