In November, Honeybee Edibles—an edible brand underneath the St. Louis-based cannabis company Proper Cannabis—released a new edible in the Missouri market. The gluten-free and vegan Queen Bee is now giving consumers an easier route to their high, compacting 100mg of THC and 100mg CBD into just a couple easy-going bites.

Similar to Grön’s MEGA edible line, these Queen Bees come packaged as one large gumdrop.

The product comes in five different flavors with some containing only the 100mg of THC and others with an additional 100mg of CBD. The THC-only gummies flavors are Blood Orange Strawberry, Grape Soda, and Black Cherry Cola. Flavors of Blue Raspberry and Sour Watermelon Passionfruit contain both the THC and CBD.

During the process of crafting the edible line, Proper’s team developed hexagon-shaped gumdrops that they now plan to use for all of their future edibles, according to their press release.

The Pitch had the opportunity to sample one of Honeybee’s Queen Bees, and we were not disappointed.

Honeybee’s Black Cherry Cola Queen Bee—First impressions of the Black Cherry Cola Queen Bee reminded me of visits to Five Guys in the late 2000s when they were one of the only local companies to contain the “futuristic” Coca Cola machines. I would almost always opt for the Cherry Coke unless I was feeling edgy and wanted to mix it up with the ultimate combination of sodas (Seriously, that chunky, red cube had maybe over 100 different options.)

Biting into the hex, initial notes of smooth black cherry hit first while a subtle cola aftertaste washes the palate. Considering the product is crafted with pectin—a plant-based soluble gel agent—it is firm yet tender to the bite, making it incredibly easy to toss in the back of your mouth, chow down, and, an hour later, forget you ate it, wondering why you feel funky.

The Queen Bee is not for the faint-hearted cannabis consumer. Packed with 100mg THC, if you plan on consuming the entire product, you better have your schedule cleared. I chose to eat the Black Cherry Cola Queen Bee one evening when I had nothing to do but binge-watch some of my favorite Netflix shows.

And while I may have had to rewatch a few episodes to remember exactly what happened, I do know that the vibes were incredibly high that chilly November night.
