ELTON JOHN, THE AWARD WINNING MUSICIAN, HAS COME TO THE STAGE IN OPPOSITION TO LEGAL WEED.

NOW 34 YEARS SOBER, JOHN REFLECTED ON HIS LIFE AS A PERFORMER AND HIS TIME AS AN ADDICT DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH TIMES MAGAZINE RELEASED THIS WEEK.

THE BRITISH SINGER WAS CHOSEN AS ICON OF THE YEAR BY THE OUTLET.

JOHN SAID **HIS SOBRIETY MAKES HIM QUESTION THE LEGALIZATION OF CANNABIS.

HE SAID BECAUSE OF ITS ADDICTIVE NATURE, IT CAN LEAD A PERSON TO PURSUE OTHER DRUGS.

IN THE ARTICLE HE SAID “Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time.”

ADULTS IN CANADA HAVE LEGALLY USED MARIJUANA SINCE ITS PASSING IN 2018.

WHILE IN THE UNITED STATES 24 STATES ALLOW ITS RECREATIONAL USE AND ANOTHER DOZEN LEGALIZED MEDICAL USAGE.

MAJORITY OF AMERICANS VIEW ON THE DRUG HAS SHIFTED…PEW RESEARCH CENTER SAID A POLL SHOWS 88 PERCENT SAY MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGAL WHETHER ITS RECREATIONAL OR MEDICINAL.

IN ANOTHER STUDY, PEW RESEARCH SAID OPPONENTS HAVE ANOTHER VIEW. 43 PERCENT BELIEVE ITS BAD FOR AMERICANS.

JOHN ALSO SAID WHEN YOU USE CANNABIS YOU CAN’T THINK NORMALLY, SOMETHING THE NATION’S PUBLIC HEALTH AGENCY REFLECTS IN THEIR REPORT SURROUNDING ITS AFFECTS.

THE CDC SAID MARIJUANA USE CAN IMPACT THE BRAINS FUNCTION–INCLUDING MEMORY AND DECISION-MAKING. THE AGENCY ALSO NOTES LONG TERM USE CAN INCREASE A PERSONS RISK OF SCHIZOPHRENIA.

OVER THE SUMMER THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ALSO ANNOUNCED PLANS TO RECLASSIFY MARIJUANA IN HOPES TO DECRIMINALIZE THE DRUG.
