GREEN RIVER — The Emery County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday that two drug busts on Interstate 70 led to officers seizing firearms and nearly 50 pounds of marijuana.
“It is illegal to traffic illegal controlled substances in the state of Utah and it violates additional laws to traffic firearms while in possession of controlled substances,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
In one of the busts, police seized 25 pounds of marijuana. In the other, 23 pounds were found alongside multiple firearms. That vehicle also had three “switches” inside, which are used to convert semi-automatic handguns into fully-automatic ones.
The Emory County Sheriff’s Office said drug busts happen frequently on Interstate 70.
