CLARE — Detectives recovered stolen trucks and seized illegal marijuana in a Clare County operation.

According to a March 14 news release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office, at 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, the Clare County Central Dispatch received a request from law enforcement from Branch County, requesting assistance in locating a stolen vehicle. 

It was reported to Clare County that a black 2025 Ford F-350 had been taken from a dealership in Cold Water, and they were able to obtain a ping of the location of the vehicle, in the area of the 2000 block of East Haskell Lake Road, located in Frost Township.

Detectives with the Clare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and were able to locate the stolen truck parked partially behind the residence located at 2365 E. Haskell Lake Road.

The detectives made contact at the residence, where they identified a 40-year-old male from Florida, Yoandy Ozuna-Lara, who had recently moved into the residence. 

While on scene, the detectives checked two other Ford trucks parked in the driveway, one a white 2024 Ford F-250, and the other a silver 2024 Ford F-350, and discovered both were stolen, one out of Arizona and the other out of Colorado.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and property. During the execution of the search warrant detectives discovered an illegal marijuana grow inside a pole barn located on the property. 

Upon completion of the search, detectives seized the three stolen Ford pickups, 75 marijuana plants, approximately one pound of cultivated marijuana, an unregistered 9mm pistol and $10,000 in cash.

The homeowner, Yoandy Ozuna-Lara, was arrested and lodged in the Clare County Jail.  He was charged with one count of Receiving and Concealing Stolen Goods over $20,000, one count of Maintaining a Drug House, one count of Weapons Felony Firearm, and one count of Possession of a Pistol without a License.  Ozuna-Lara was arraigned in the 80th District Court of Clare County. His bond was set at $60,000/10%.

A second subject, a 32-year-old Cuban immigrant, Yasmani Plasencia Diaz, who had previously been staying in Wheeler, Michigan, was also arrested.

Diaz was charged with Receiving and Concealing Stolen Goods over $20,000. He was arraigned in the 80th District Court of Clare County. His bond was set at $25,000/10%. There is also a hold placed on Diaz with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as he is not a citizen of the United States.
