FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) — A Folly Beach man was arrested Sunday after police responded to reports of gunfire, resulting in a search of his rented home that yielded several marijuana plants and cocaine, according to the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety.
50-year-old Gabriel Micah Washburn was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center Sunday on various firearms and drug-related charges.
Around 1 p.m. Sunday, Folly Beach officers responded to a home on the 1010 block of East Ashley Avenue for reports of possible shots fired in the area, according to an incident report.
Officers found Washburn kneeling on the screened-in front porch of the home holding a shotgun, the report states.
After detaining the man without incident and securing the 12 gauge, officers sought to confirm the residence was his, asking if he owned the house. He reportedly told them he was renting.
“I asked [Washburn] to give me five items in the house that belonged to him, so that I could see if he was staying there (looking for items like personal items, furniture, clothing),” the report reads. Washburn then reportedly told officers some items inside were “cocaine, marijuana, and some pills that are my girlfriends.”
Washburn then confirmed he was admitting to the narcotics inside being his, the report states, before he granted officers permission to search the residence.
