Former Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro hopes to enter the medical marijuana business. DeCastro is looking to open a dispensary in Ross Township, just 15 minutes north of Pittsburgh; however, he is in a dispute with a neighboring business, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
G&G Equipment currently sits at the spot next to a laser tag establishment, Laser Storm. Owner John Mator argues that DeCastro’s marijuana business would hurt his business, as Laser Storm primarily targets families.
DeCastro assured the council at the meeting that it would be ‘run like a pharmacy’ and that he would employ an armed security guard, consistently keep track of cameras, and has all the proper permits.
DeCastro was the team’s first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Stanford. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro along the offensive line, which gives impressive credentials, but still will make it tough to make the Hall of Fame considering how stringent the criteria is for offensive linemen to make it.
