A new medical marijuana dispensary will be coming to McKnight Road, but only after a challenge over regulations.

Ross Township Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the facility on Monday night.

The vote was delayed last month after questions were raised about the Whole Plants LLC dispensary’s compliance with township regulations.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro is the applicant for the dispensary.

He was asked to present additional evidence proving the business meets all zoning and regulatory requirements.

Those opposing were also asked to bring supporting evidence.

The owner of the neighboring Laser Storm laser tag facility who first opposed the dispensary because he thought his business could be jeopardized has changed his mind.

The proposed marijuana dispensary will take the place of G&G Fitness Equipment along McKnight Road.

DeCastro was taken by the Steelers 24th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

He played nine seasons with Pittsburgh, was named a First-team All-Pro twice, was a one-time Second-team All-Pro and was named to the Pro Bowl six times.

His career ended after the 2020 season.
