Appointed by Governor Lombardo, Major General Berry fills the vacated seat of Hon. Michael Douglas, who served as the board’s chair from 2020 to 2023. 

The Cannabis Compliance Board was founded through Assembly Bill 533 during the 2019 legislative session and consists of five board members who are appointed by the Governor.

All board members must have expertise in a range of fields, including finance and accounting, law enforcement, medicine, regulatory and legal compliance, and cannabis.

Maj. Gen. Ondra L. Berry has 38 years of distinguished service to the Nevada National Guard, where he served as the Adjutant General, for the State of Nevada.  As an Adjutant General, he was responsible for developing and executing plans and policies that impacted more than 4,700 Nevada Army and Air National Guard personnel from 2019 until his retirement in 2024. 

In addition, he served 25 years as an officer in the Reno Police Department, where he rose to the rank of assistant police chief. 

In 2005 General Berry left law enforcement to work in the private sector, including as senior vice president at MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas. 

General Berry has an undergraduate degree in secondary education from the University of Evansville and an MPA in political science from the University of Nevada, Reno.
