Nearly two weeks ago, deputies were called to a home in Pocasset for a theft. That case led to the discovery of an illegal grow operation. “It’s a nuisance to the town of Pocasset,” Deputy Tyler Hogan said. That nuisance tag was put on the property because of broken fencing and excessive amounts of trash. Neighbors said they’ve been trying to get something done. The Grady County Sheriff’s Office told KOCO 5 that the owners didn’t have the licenses they needed to run the marijuana grow. KOCO 5 was there on Wednesday as deputies cut and seized plants from the illegal grow operation in preparation to destroy them. “We were able to go in and clear it,” Hogan said. Big success here,” Boggess said. The Grady County Sheriff’s Office now has warrants out for the owners’ arrests, and they will forfeit the property. Authorities said the problem isn’t just in Grady County, but it’s growing throughout Oklahoma. The sheriff’s office will continue working with state agents to crack down on these crimes. “If you’re going to do illegal stuff in Grady County, we’re going to come knock on your door,” Boggess said.
