Hammond Police arrest two men after finding synthetic marijuana in car, residence
Hammond Police arrested two men after they were found in possession of drugs and guns. Police arrested Virgil Harrell, 32, of Hammond after he was found in possession of marijuana and promethazine after a traffic stop was conducted.According to police, Harrell had been a suspect in an ongoing drug investigation and police secured a search warrant of his residence on Stanley Street. When they arrived to the residence on Stanley St. they found Charles Trim Jr., 55 of Hammond at the home. At the residence they found multiple bags of marijuana, synthetic marijuana, multiple digital scales, a loaded gun with extra ammunition, a bullet proof vest and a pipe used to smoke marijuana. Trim Jr. was arrested and admitted to being in possession of the gun and bullet proof vest. Police discovered Trim Jr. was a convicted felon for aggravated battery and armed robbery and served almost 20 years in prison. As a result of his conviction he is not allowed to own a gun or bullet proof vest.
