SIOUX CENTER—A 23-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, near Sioux Center on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — cannabidiol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Jose Guillermo Rodriguez stemmed from the stop of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee for an equipment violation on 390th Street near Elmwood Avenue about five miles west of Sioux Center, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The odor of marijuana was detected, and Rodriguez admitted to being in possession of marijuana, according to the incident report.
Cannabidiol vaping devices and drug paraphernalia were located during a search of the vehicle.
