In February 2022, I was contacted by Tennessee filmmaker Jordan Berger, who said he was making a documentary about the cannabis plant and its potential for good in the world.
He said much of the film would focus on industrial hemp, and he asked if i would sit for an interview and maybe put him in touch with people in my network.
I said yes. Now, here we are two and half years later. The film is nearly complete.
My role in the film is relatively small. I sat for a few interviews and answered the filmmakers’ questions as best I could. I’m not an expert on hemp by any means, but because i have been interviewing people in the hemp industry every week for the past six years on the hemp podcast, I do have a unique perspective and do know more about the hemp industry than the average bear.
I’m proud to be one of the people helping to tell the story of hemp.

Once you watch the trailer, you start to see how a film like this is both ambitious and necessary.
Most documentaries about cannabis focus on the weed side of things, but “One Plant” is different because it takes a hard look at the other parts of the plant and how people are using it to make a difference in the lives, their communities and the world around them.
The average consumer doesn’t know much about hemp. Usually, when someone discovers that a product is made form hemp, they will make a joke about smoking it.
When people see this film, hopefully they will see that marijuana is only a tiny part of the story and that hemp is no laughing matter.
There’s too much at stake in our world now for hemp not to be taken seriously.
The film is very close to completion, but there is still some work to be done, and the crew needs our help to get them over the finish line.
