LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – An inmate at the Lancaster County Jail is facing new charges after he was caught with methamphetamine on Sunday, according to court documents.
Ivory Gray was charged with possessing 28-139 grams of methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence on Monday. A judge set his bond at 10% of $250,000.
Court documents show a corrections officer became suspicious after they smelled marijuana in Gray’s jail cell. The officer pat-searched one inmate living in the cell but didn’t find anything. He then pat-searched Gray and reportedly found a white tube sock containing two plastic bundles rolled into his pant leg.
The officer placed the evidence on a desk and called for backup to assist with a strip search of Gray and had him wait in the commons area of the pod. While waiting in the commons area of the pod, authorities wrote that Gray grabbed the sock and attempted to flush it down a toilet but was unsuccessful in doing so.
Staff inspected the bundles and found a total of 40.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, documents show. They also reportedly found a paper bundle containing 4.7 grams of marijuana inside the sock.
He will be back in court for a hearing on April 30 at 10 a.m.
