Three men were arrested, and a firearm and quantities of ammunition and cannabis were seized during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Port of Spain and Central Divisions on Tuesday.
Police in a media release reported in the first incident, officers of the South Western Division, acting on information, proceeded to the Belmont home of a male suspect where they carried out a search around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The search resulted in officers finding three glass jars containing a quantity of cannabis. The man, who was on the premises at the time of the search, was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, in the Central Division, officers of the Chaguanas Police Station conducted an exercise between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., Tuesday, during which they proceeded to the Charlieville district. There they arrested a 42-year-old man for the possession of one 12-gauge shotgun and eleven 12-gauge cartridges and a 29-year-old man of Port of Spain on outstanding warrants.
