JESUP, Ga. (WTOC) – According to the Jesup Police Department, Friday night officers conducted a traffic stop near East Bay Street which led to a search of the vehicle due to a marijuana odor.

During the search police say the driver of the vehicle started running away, officers found the driver while he was trying to hide in brush near South Magnolia Drive.

Police say they found around 7.2 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, and multiple plastic bags in the vehicle. There were two other passengers in the vehicle during this incident but police say they were released from the scene.

Police placed the driver, Kevin Smith under arrested and took him to the Wayne County Jail pending multiple charges.
