COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – After nearly a week of arguments about whether or not to bring recreational marijuana to Colorado Springs, residents have their answer.

On Thursday afternoon, the Colorado Supreme Court denied the city’s request to appeal a district court judge’s ruling on Monday. Hours later, the judge passed an order saying her ruling would stand.

11 News reached out to members of the city council and City Council President Pro Tem Lynette Crow-Iverson replied with a statement saying:

Renze Waddington who sued the city tells me his focus has shifted from needing to campaign for this issue in April to getting ready to bring retail sales to his medical dispensaries.

“I feel it is a good thing it has been almost a decade long fight and I think we finally won,” Waddington said.

April 14 is the early deadline for stores that have applied for retail licenses to start selling recreational marijuana out of their stores. The city says they have already received dozens of applications.
