ROUND MOUNTAIN, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nye County Sheriff’s Office reported this week it found about 2,000 illegal marijuana plants near Round Mountain about 44 miles north of Tonopah.

Deputy Richard Rumker and Lt. Ricardo Ramirez found the operation on Aug. 30. Four people fled at the time the operation was discovered and they have not been apprehended, the sheriff’s office said.

The property owner may face felony charges.

The sheriff’s office also found chemicals used in marijuana, some of which may be illegal to use in the United States.

The Tonopah Volunteer Fire Department and Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department assisted in the disposal of the marijuana and chemicals.
