INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WNDU) – A group of Indiana lawmakers has introduced a bill to legalize marijuana in the state, but the bill has an age requirement and a government regulation component.

House Bill 1630 would allow anyone 21 and older to purchase, possess and consume marijuana.

The bill is co-sponsored by two Republicans and two Democrats.

It would also establish a so called Cannabis Commission that would regulate fee structures and other regulations for cultivation, processing, transportation and safety compliance licenses.

Indiana is surrounded by states that have fully legalized marijuana, including Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. Kentucky has not yet made it legal.

Attempts to pass legislation legalizing marijuana in Indiana have all failed in the past.
