BOGALUSA, LA — Louisiana State Police arrested Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong as part of a months-long investigation into a drug trafficking organization (DTO) linked to violent crimes and the distribution of opioids, high-grade marijuana, THC products, and MDMA.

The Narcotics/Violent Crime Task Force (NVCTF), in collaboration with local and state agencies, uncovered that the DTO used social media platforms to manage sales and payments. Authorities revealed that profits from the illegal drug trade were used to purchase firearms, some tied to local violent crimes.

Search warrants led to multiple arrests, including:

Tyrin Truong, 25, Mayor of Bogalusa, charged with drug transaction offenses, unauthorized use of a movable, and soliciting prostitution.
MacKenzie Lynn Cefalu, 24, charged with drug trafficking conspiracy.
De-Saleem Wali Pittman, 24, charged with drug distribution and conspiracy.
Dirul S. Pittman, 22, charged with drug proceeds transactions.
Salehal-Dien Malike Pittman, 26, charged with drug transactions.
Tonya Renee Stage, 51, charged with drug trafficking conspiracy.
Devan Michael Williams, 28, charged with drug proceeds and trafficking conspiracy.

All suspects will be booked into the Washington Parish Jail.

“We have zero tolerance for wrongdoing, especially, from public officials,” Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill stated. “I’m very proud of all of our law enforcement agencies who worked on this investigation.”

“We are going to continue to invest time and resources into helping the citizens of Bogalusa,” District Attorney Collin Sims stated. “We are not finished.”

The investigation remains active as authorities pursue additional suspects and related cases.
