MAGEE, Miss. (WLBT) – A Magee High School student has been taken into custody after fleeing police in Magee.
According to the Magee Police Department, officers responded to a report of multiple people being armed at the Park Place Apartments on Monday around 5:22 p.m.
Upon arrival, the subjects, including the unidentified high schooler, fled on foot with firearms through the woods and across buildings. Despite verbal commands to stop, the suspects continued to run.
The Magee student was taken into custody shortly after the pursuit.
Magee police said that the investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of approximately 59 grams of marijuana and two scales. The suspect cooperated and led officers to a location where a discarded weapon was recovered on a playground near Park Place Apartments.
Officers are still investigating to identify the others who managed to escape.
Magee police say school administrators have been notified of the incident involving one of their students so that appropriate protocol can take place.
