POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) – An Alabama man is facing a felony drug charge after deputies say they found him traveling with hundreds of pounds of marijuana.
According to Posey County authorities, they were called to assist a stranded motorist on Interstate 64 at mile marker 4.
Deputies say once arriving to assist the driver, later identified as 69-year-old Clarance Shipman, they found several trash bags in the cargo bay of the van filled with marijuana.

Authorities said they ended up finding 800 pounds of marijuana and synthetic marijuana in Shipman’s van.
Shipman was transporting the marijuana, worth around $1 million, from Los Angeles to North Carolina, deputies said.
The 69-year-old was taken to the Posey County Jail, where he is charged with felony dealing marijuana.
