“The Territorial Command of Faro, through the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of Tavira, on December 3rd, arrested a 59-year-old man for cultivating cannabis and possession of a prohibited weapon, in the municipality of Tavira”, says the GNR in a statement.

The GNR, as part of an investigation into cannabis cultivation, which had been ongoing for around two months, carried out a home search that culminated in the dismantling of a greenhouse used for the cultivation of cannabis and the seizure of prohibited weapons.
According to the note, during the investigations, it was also possible to identify several devices related to the different stages of cultivation, drying, conditioning and packaging of the narcotic product.

During the Military Police operation, various materials were also seized, including 224 marijuana plants, 3,358 portions of marijuana, five bottles of cannabidiol (CBD) oil, a tactical crossbow, two recurve bows, 27 darts, and 21 arrows.
LED lights, solar panels, extractors, fertilizers, among other materials used to grow narcotics, were also seized.

The detainee was named a defendant and the facts were communicated to the Tavira Court, the GNR also informs.
The operation included reinforcements from military personnel from the Intervention Detachment (DI) of Faro, the Nature and Environmental Protection Service (SEPNA) of Tavira and the Territorial Post of Tavira.
