Shots were fired during an attempted robbery Wednesday morning at a marijuana dispensary in South Whitter,.
Deputies responded at about 1:30 a.m. to the dispensary on Telegraph Road after report of a robbery and gunshots. Deputies spoke with security guards at the scene who told them about the attempted robbery.
The guards told deputies that three men armed with handguns entered the business. The men left in a dark-color vehicle. Detailed descriptions of the robbers and the vehicle were not available Wednesday morning.
It was not immediately clearly whether anyone was hit by gunfire. Authorities said it appears security personnel fired rounds. It was not immediately clear whether the robbers fired shots, too, according to the sheriff’s department.
No arrests were reported.
About 20 minutes later, deputies were notified of a gunshot victim who later died at a nearby hospital. The sheriff’s department said investigators are attempting to determine whether that person, a man in his 30s, was connected to the dispensary robbery.
An initial news release from the sheriff’s department indicated the man died.
