ROANOKE RAPIDS — At about 9 p.m. on Jan. 31, Deputy D. Bybee with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in reference to a vehicle code violation in the area of Zoo and Thelma roads.

According to a press release from Major Anzell M. Harris, the driver was identified as Grady Jefferson, 38, of the Roanoke Rapids area, and it was found that he did not have a valid driver’s license. While conducting a probable cause search, Deputy Bybee located 10 individual plastic baggies containing marijuana, a digital scale, and a box of sandwich baggies.

Jefferson was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, two counts of possession of marijuana paraphernalia and driving without a license. He was given no bond due to currently being out on bond for a different drug-related charge. He was given a Feb. 27 court date.
