LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland man is facing drug charges after 237.2 grams of marijuana was found in his car during a traffic stop on State Rd. 400 early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
During the traffic stop for speeding, FHP says the responding trooper smelled weed coming from Xavier Benitez’ car before conducting a search.
Investigators say the 20-year-old suspect was driving with a revoked license and two dogs were also found in the car.

What they’re saying:
Troopers say Benitez admitted that the marijuana belonged to him.
Benitez was arrested, and the dogs were taken to Polk County Animal Control.
