The Marina Police Department said they arrested an 18-year-old man who was found with a stolen firearm and controlled substances packaged for sale.
The Salinas Police Department issued a “Be On the Lookout” on Wednesday for a male suspect seen leaving the city with a firearm in his waistband. A vehicle description and license plate were also given.
Marina police officers spotted the vehicle parked in a parking lot near 100 General Stillwell Drive.
The driver was Juan Carlos Vasquez from Salinas. Marina PD canine “Riley” roamed the outside of the vehicle and alerted officers to a firearm, said police.
A loaded Glock 19 was found under the driver’s seat, and it was determined to be stolen. Also, various controlled substances were located inside the vehicle packaged for sale, per police.
Vasquez was booked into Monterey County Jail for multiple charges such as possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance while armed and possession of controlled substances for sale. His bail was set at $90,000, per the Monterey County Jail.
