An investigation while on patrol resulted in a 20-year-old man being charged with possession of over 70 grams of marijuana.
New Bern Police Department was on patrol on Tuesday, Dec. 24 around 8:33 p.m. officers spotted a a vehicle on Pine Tree Drive and authorities say they could smell the odor of marijuana from the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle and two people in the vehicle were identified.
Zykeem Brooks, 20, and an 18-year-old female. What was discovered in the vehicle was over 70 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, packaging materials, an AR pistol, ammunition, and an extended magazine according to authorities.
Brooks was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute (PWISD) marijuana, and his court date is Friday, Dec. 27. The 18-year-old female was not charged and released.
