BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With medical marijuana becoming legalized in Kentucky at the first of the year, there are some questions being raised.
The federal law makes it illegal to own a handgun and use medical marijuana. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, known as ATF, released a letter explaining this.
The document says regardless if a state has passed the legalization of marijuana or not, it is federally unlawful for a person to use the drug and own a firearm.
This is an ongoing story. News 40 will provide any updates as they become available
