NASHVILLE, Tenn.–In a small victory for the hemp industry, a Tennessee judge has temporarily blocked a new law targeting hemp producers.
Hometown Hero CBD Chief Strategy Officer Cynthia Cabrera, who is also a member of the Tennessee Growers Coalition, was involved in filing the injunction putting the new law on hold. Cabrera says the now delayed law “would have made it impossible” for retailers to sell hemp or CBD products and “would have made it impossible for consumers to access the products if they wanted them.”
Cabrera says hemp products are restricted to adults, referencing the sales of alcohol and tobacco which are sold with age dates. “It’s basically the same thing. These are adult products and there needs to be access for adults so this is handled,” Cabrera adds.
