On Monday afternoon, emergency responders received a call that two girls were ill in the health office at Nobel Charter Middle School. When paramedics and police arrived, the number had jumped to five.

Police believe the teens had eaten cannabis edibles or gummies. Two girls were released to parents or guardians, and the other three were taken to the hospital in fair condition.

Detectives are investigating where the drugs came from and who provided them to the children.
