SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol on Monday released video of a January traffic stop in which troopers discovered $3.5 million worth of cannabis in the back of a U-Haul truck.

According to the time stamp on the dashboard camera video, the traffic stop took place shortly before noon on Jan. 24 in Summit County. The video shows a trooper pulling over a U-Haul truck for veering slightly outside its lane.

“I want to make sure you’re not texting and driving on your phone or anything,” the trooper says to the driver after sharing the reason he was pulled over.

The driver, described only as a 33-year-old man, told troopers the U-Haul was filled with furniture because he was moving, and on his way to Pennsylvania from Oklahoma.

The driver gives troopers permission to look in the back of the U-Haul, and during the conversation, says he is headed from Oklahoma to New York.

“I thought you said PA,” the trooper says. The video then shows the trooper opening a large plastic bin filled with what appears to be marijuana.

Troopers ultimately pulled 700 pounds of marijuana from the back of the truck, worth an estimated $3.5 million. The driver was arrested on felony drug charges.
