Abdulmalek Nagi, 31, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possession of a scheduled drug with intent to distribute, according to a press release from the police department.
A search warrant was conducted at a warehouse at 4891 F St., where detectives found a “large-scale illegal THC sales operation” and evidence that the facility was supplying numerous area smoke shops with illegal THC products, police said.
Thousands of illegal Delta-9 THC vape pens and cartridges, THC waxes, THC-infused candies and leafy marijuana were seized. Psychedelic mushrooms and Khat, a plant that is often chewed to produce a stimulant effect, were also found, according to police.

Marijuana remains illegal in Nebraska, though hemp, which comes from the same plant, is legal. The 2018 federal farm bill legalized and regulated production of hemp, placing a 0.3% limit on the content of Delta-9 THC. But no limits were placed on other derivatives of the hemp plant like Delta-8, Delta-10, CBD and THC-A, among many others.
In March, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers said he would order more than 100 Omaha area retailers to halt the sale of Delta-8 products which local law enforcement say are mislabeled or contain dangerous levels of the psychoactive compound THC.
Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office purchased products from stores across the county and tested their chemical composition. Hilgers said every store they visited had issues with labeling, high concentrations of THC or products with marijuana. Hilgers said deputies also found products labeled hemp that were technically marijuana due to the concentrated presence of the Delta-8 compound.
In August 2023, an investigation spearheaded by Hilgers’ office found products containing illegal amounts of THC at dispensaries in Bellevue, Gretna, Papillion and Lincoln.
According to a press release from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, products from dispensaries in Bellevue, Gretna and Papillion tested “well above” the legal limit of Delta-9 THC, with “many” products testing above 5% and some reaching up to 15%.
