The Windsor Police Service says it has arrested one man and is seeking three others related to a series of commercial break-ins and cannabis thefts.

Police say the suspects allegedly committed a series of break-ins in the early hours of Jan. 12 that were used as a diversion tactic to facilitate subsequent crimes.

In each case, police say the suspects used a vehicle to ram into businesses in the 2600 block of Temple Drive, 3400 block of Etienne Boulevard, 3000 block of Walker Road and 800 block of Foster Avenue.

But they made no attempts to enter the businesses or steal anything, police said in a news release issued Friday.

A short time later, however, police allege the same vehicle was used for a break-in at a business in the 4100 block of Walker Road, where four suspects used a crowbar to enter the premises and stole cannabis products.

Police say they then targeted another business in the 300 block of Cabana Road, again using a crowbar to break in and again stealing cannabis products.

On Thursday, police arrested a 54-year-old in connection with the crimes.

A search turned up $3,000 worth of cannabis-related products and a crowbar police believed to have been used in the crimes.

The suspect has been charged with a number of offences, including break-and-enter, mischief, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of probation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to call the Target Base Unit or Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers anonymously.
