MORE than 200 cannabis plants discovered across five rooms have been seized by police investigating the supply of illegal drugs.

Police officers from Castle Point’s community policing team alongside Essex Police’s specialist police units raided an address in Point Road, on Canvey, in the early hours of this morning.

Along with our crime scene investigators and drug expert witnesses, the team found 206 cannabis plants across five rooms.

A 23-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and abstracting electricity. He remains in custody.

A large police presence remained at the scene from the early morning until just before 3pm, residents said, as a forensics van was also spotted.

The plants, estimated to have a value up to £68,000, were seized by offices and Essex Police investigation is ongoing.
