PORT BARRE, La. (KADN) — Port Barre police said a search warrant executed at a home netted meth, cocaine, marijuana, marijuana plants, guns, and more. They added it also resulted in one arrest.

Police Chief Deon Boudreaux said James Joseph, 46, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II – methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II – cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, distribution of marijuana, manufacturing/cultivation of marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of body armor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and proceeds from drug transactions.

Police said the search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Boggs Street on Monday, July 1, around 9 a.m.

“Several months back, we received information that someone was selling illegal narcotics from the home,” explained Chief Boudreaux. “We monitored the home and conducted an investigation and were able to obtain a search warrant for 122 Boggs Street. Once inside, police seized four pistols, an armored vest, drug paraphernalia, 14 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of cocaine, 106 grams of marijuana, a marijuana hydroponic growing system (which contained six small marijuana plants), several digital scales, and packs of zip bags.”

“Although the amount of illegal narcotics found today may not have been a large amount, it is still a significant and important drug bust. Considering the amount of traffic going to and from that house recently, he probably had a lot more narcotics there before we were able to execute the warrant. However, this dealer was one of the main distributors in our town. Making this arrest sends a message that we will not tolerate drug dealing in our community,” the chief added.
