PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – On Wednesday, Attorney General Phil Weiser said he reached a settlement with Bee’s Knees CBDs after a state investigation.
According to the AG, the investigation uncovered the company made misrepresentations about the sources of its products, labeled some products as “organic,” did not have a correct age verification system on its website and lied about supporting conservation groups.
The Bee’s Knees CBDs and owner Joseph Leyba claimed the products were organic and made in Colorado. The AG said Leyba later admitted those claims were not true.
The AG said the company also falsely claimed they supported some conservation nonprofits. After the investigation, the Bee’s Knees took those nonprofits’ names and logos off of the website, removing any misleading representations.
The AG said the website also had no age verification method, though selling as much Delta-9 THC as products in regulated dispensaries.
The AG said the company must pay the fines, fully comply with state law and thoroughly vet any raw materials it uses for its products. The company must also obtain legal licenses and permits needed to conduct its business as well as add proper age verification and remove nonprofit misrepresentations.
If the company does not comply with the terms of the settlement, the AG said the company could owe up to $495,000 in fines.
