Kentucky Rep. Rachel Roberts has officially joined the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance, a nonprofit organization that advocates for cannabis reform in the commonwealth, as its executive director.
“I am honored to lead the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance at this critical juncture,” Roberts said in a press release. “With the medical cannabis program set to commence, KCIA will be at the forefront of ensuring a thriving, equitable and well-regulated cannabis industry in Kentucky. I look forward to collaborating with Gov. Andy Beshear, Office of Medical Cannabis Executive Director Sam Flynn and the legislature to effectively implement this transformative program.”
In 2020, Roberts became the first woman to get elected to Kentucky House district 67, which comprises much of northern Campbell County, including Newport. She currently serves as the house minority whip and is a member of several legislative committees. She did not run for re-election in 2024, and her term concludes at the end of the year.
“As Executive Director of KCIA, Rep. Roberts will spearhead initiatives to unify and advocate for Kentucky’s cannabis industry stakeholders,” the press release states. “Her leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policies that promote growth, sustainability and social responsibility within the industry.”
