In total, contraband worth €327,000 was discovered in Dublin, the Midlands and Rosslare.

Over the course just one week, from October 14, Revenue carried out numerous operations as a result of risk profiling.

Some of the seizures included 10kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €201,000 and various quantities of other illicit drugs, with a total estimated value of €5,000.

These comprised 96mls of cannabis oil, 402.7g of cannabis edibles, 8.1g of magic mushrooms, and 2,126 Tapentadol, Diazepam, Alprazolam and Zopiclone tablets.

A total of 625 litres of wine, 20 litres of beer, three litres of spirits and 100 litres of other alcohol with an estimated value of €9,050, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €5,000, alongside a 15.5 inch knife.

The illegal drugs were discovered, with the assistance of detector dogs Enzo and Sam, in parcels that originated in the USA, the UK, Spain, France, Canada, Thailand and India, and were intended for addresses nationwide.

Revenue officers also seized a quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of €112,000, due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.

These goods consisted of 286 items of makes including Adidas, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Cristian Dior, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Nike, The North Face, Armani, Canada Goose, Gucci, Hermes, Lacoste, Palm Angels, Prada, Puma, Ralph Lauren, Rolex, Stone Island, Tommy Hilfiger and YSL.

“These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity,” Revenue said in a statement.
