NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WFSB) – A Naugatuck man was arrested after a domestic dispute led to the discovery of illegal drugs and firearms.
Police say they responded to a 911 call last night at a home on Perock Lane.
When officers arrived at the home, they learned a dispute occurred between 42-year-old Mark Rich and a woman. They say Rich had attempted to interfere with the woman’s 911 call.
While in the home, officers observed guns and “cannabis cultivation materials”.
“Detectives subsequently obtained a search-and-seizure warrant which resulted in the seizure of various firearms and firearms parts, such as lower receivers, which are necessary for the manufacture of a firearm, as well as high-capacity magazines,” police said.
Some of the firearms lacked serial numbers. One was described by police as an assembled AR-15-style rifle.
Ammunition, 8.0 grams of suspected ecstasy, and several containers and bins with dried marijuana plants were also seized.
Police say they found evidence indicating a marijuana growing operation in the basement of the home.
Rich was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, high-capacity magazines, violation of firearms, lower receivers and frame restrictions, cultivation of cannabis, disorderly conduct, and interference with emergency calls.
Rich, a convicted felon, is prohibited by law from possessing firearms and was held on a $500,000 bond.
