CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – The 5th Annual Hemp Cannabis Symposium is scheduled for Friday in Carbondale.
According to Southern Illinois University, this year’s theme is “Cannabis Science: Advancing Academic and Industry Collaboration.”
This year’s event is happening on September 27 at the Mclafferty Annex.
The symposium will showcase the latest trends, research and opportunities in the hemp and cannabis sectors. There will also be networking opportunities with professionals in these areas.
The SI Hemp Cannabis Symposium Committee will host tours of the new Biolaunch laboratories and have poster session spaces for student research.

Following the symposium, the City of Carbondale and the SI Hemp Cannabis Symposium Committee will hold the annual Hemp, Hops & Shrooms event on Saturday, September 28 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be educational presentations, local food, live music, a fermentation tent and more than 20 artists and vendors.
