A software engineer was arrested for selling ‘high-quality’ OG Kush, also known as cannabis, in Hyderabad.

According to Shamshabad District Prohibition and Excise officer Krishna Priya, the accused, identified as Siva Ram, 28, worked as a software employee in Deloitte in Bengaluru.

He was arrested by the officials while selling the contraband to customers in Prashanth Hills Colony of Raidurg late on January 26.

The police seized 175 grams of OG Kush, one kilogram of loose dry ganja, and ₹1.91 lakh cash – proceeds from the illegal sales. The accused was handed over to the Serilingampally police for further investigation.

Investigation revealed that Ram used to come to Hyderabad by bus on weekends to deliver the contraband to his customers.

On January 25, Siva Ram procured OG Kush from Bengaluru-based supplier Ajay Karra in Bengaluru at a rate of ₹1,500 per gram.

OG Kush, originally cultivated in California, is a hybrid strain derived from Hindukush and Chemdawg genetics. Known for its distinct aroma and high potency, the strain contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) levels ranging between 25-28%, compared to 2-4% found in regular ganja. In Hyderabad, the market value of OG Kush is estimated to be ₹3,000 per gram.
