ST. LOUIS — St. Louis aldermen on Friday OK’d later operating hours for marijuana dispensaries in the city, changing the mandatory closing time to 10 p.m. from the current 8 p.m. requirement.

The bill passed on a 12-0 vote.

The sponsor, Alderman Rasheen Aldridge of downtown, said the measure would allow the city outlets to compete better with dispensaries in St. Louis County, which are allowed to stay open until 9 p.m.

He said he also expects that the change would help the city get more tax revenue from marijuana sales.

The bill originally called for an even later closing time of midnight but an aldermanic committee earlier this month changed that to 10 p.m.
