Arkansas Department of Health Director Jennifer Dillaha has denied a Centerton sexual health educator’s petition with the department to add “female orgasmic disorder” as a qualifying medical condition of treatment with medical marijuana.
Sarah Hanson filed a petition with the department to add female orgasmic disorder, referred to as FOD, as a qualifying medical condition of treatment with medical marijuana. The department received the petition on July 23, according to department records.
To qualify for a registry card to legally purchase medical marijuana in Arkansas, people currently must be diagnosed with one of 18 qualifying medical conditions, according to the state Department of Health’s website.
In her petition, Hanson wrote that “Decades of peer-reviewed research reveals cannabis helps women with FOD and it has been recommended as an adjunct to therapy to treat FOD and other sexual disorders since 1979.”
