LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Arkansas State Police (ASP) announced more than 680 pounds of illegal narcotics and 13 firearms were seized in traffic stops in November.

The largest of the seizures occurred this week on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in Crittenden County. Troopers stopped a Dodge Ram pickup around 11:30 a.m. on I-40 eastbound. Upon a search, Troopers discovered 211 pounds of illegal marijuana wrapped in bundles in the vehicle’s floorboard and in the bed. Two handguns were also located.

ASP arrested 30-year-old Michael Penilton of Lamar, Mississippi, and transported him to the Crittenden County Detention Center where he was booked on felony charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms.

ASP also stopped a Ford Fusion on I-40 eastbound on Nov. 18 at around 6:15 p.m. During a search, Troopers seized 93 pounds of illegal marijuana, 10 pounds of THC wax, 1,000 vape cartridges, more than $21,000 cash and a Glock handgun. Troopers arrested Graham Toth, 24, of Los Angeles, and transported him to the Pope County Detention Center.

He was subsequently charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms. Toth told investigators he was traveling from Los Angeles to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Aside from the previous two, the Arkansas State Police has seized more than 470 pounds of illegal marijuana alone.
