An Arkansas State Police traffic stop last week resulted in a high-speed chase and the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs, the agency announced Thursday.
Around 10 p.m. on Dec. 20, a state trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 white Chrysler 300 on U.S. 67 at exit 1 for a traffic violation.
The suspect, Malcolm Curry, 24, of Little Rock, sped away, then headed west on Interstate 40 at speeds exceeding 130 miles per hour, according to a news release.
Curry turned off his car lights and used the shoulder of the highway to pass cars.
The pursuit continued on Interstate 430, where the car took the Colonel Glenn Road exit and then turned onto Lawson Road, before crashing.
Curry fled on foot before being arrested.
A search of the Chrysler found 14 boxes of PolkaDot psychoactive mushrooms, 47 ecstasy pills, two pounds of illegal marijuana and three bottles of promethazine.
Curry — who was treated for minor injuries at a hospital — was charged with possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, possession of drug paraphernalia, unauthorized use of property and several traffic violations.
