SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – An ongoing investigation into illegal marijuana activity led to a search of a property near Springfield that turned up stolen vehicles and guns as well as hundreds of pounds of illegally-handled marijuana, the Lane County Sheriff’s office said.
According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, on December 20, after a months-long investigation that started with a traffic stop in Illinois that turned up 242 pounds of marijuana, detectives served a search warrant at an address on Mahogony Lane south of Springfield. Deputies said the site was a licensed OLCC marijuana growing location, but detectives determined some marijuana grown there was being illegally diverted out of the state.
Detectives said they found more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana being kept at the address, about half of which was being illegally hidden in the home on the property. Deputies said the home was not part of the area where marijuana could legally be kept, and marijuana found in the home was not in the OLCC tracking system. There were also land management code violations observed on the property that will be investigated by Lane County’s Land Management Code Compliance Program.
LCSO deputies said they also found several stolen trailers, stolen tractors, and two stolen firearms, including one suppressed assault rifle. Several other guns were seized from the property. Lane County deputies did not specify if anyone was arrested during or after the search, but said an investigation is ongoing.
