SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Surfside Beach Town Council will hold a business license revocation hearing next week for Delta Dispensary.

Surfside Beach Police Dept. executed a search warrant at Delta Dispensary last month. Jason Joseph Papotto and Sabrena Lee Papotto were arrested and charged as a result. Jason was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana and two counts of distribution of marijuana in proximity to a school or park. Sabrena was charged with one count of distribution of marijuana and one count of distribution of marijuana in proximity to a school or park.

The warrant was the result of a three-month investigation into the sale of unregulated and untested substances that were represented as hemp, however, forensic analysis showed the products were above the state-regulated limits for THC, according to police. SBPD added the products contained significantly higher amounts of the THC compound and therefore meet the definition of marijuana.

South Carolina statutes do not currently allow for the possession or sale of cannabis or hemp products that contain over .30 percent of THC.
